Our commitment to purity is unwavering. We ensure that each bottle of Borracho Tequila is as pure and additive-free as possible. Rigorous CRT tests confirm the exceptional quality of our tequila, promising an authentic and unadulterated experience with every sip.
STEP 1
The journey of tequila begins under the vast, sun-drenched skies of Jalisco, where the agave plants grow in the rich, volcanic soil. These blue agave plants, standing tall and proud, have been nurtured by the earth for years, waiting for the right moment. After years of slow growth, when the plants have reached their peak, skilled Jimadores carefully harvest the piñas—the heart of the agave.
STEP 2
Once the piñas are collected, the agave is cooked transforming the raw, tough fibers into something far more refined. The heat begins to coax out the sugars, turning the plant into something that will fuel the next part of the story: the creation of tequila. Traditional Hornos, large brick ovens, slowly cook the agave for hours, enveloping the air with the rich scent of roasted sweetness. In this warm embrace, the plant changes, its starches turning to sugar, its raw edges softened.
STEP 3
With the cooking complete, the agave is ready to be extracted. The piñas are crushed, releasing their sweet, golden juice, known as aguamiel, that will eventually become the soul of the tequila.
STEP 4
The agave juice is left to ferment, quietly bubbling for days, as yeast begins its work. The fermentation process, though subtle, is where the magic happens. The yeast consumes the sugars, turning them into alcohol. The raw, earthy notes of the agave begin to meld with the emerging flavors, and the liquid slowly transforms into something with a distinct character—tequila in the making.
STEP 5
Once fermentation is complete, the liquid is poured into distillation stills, where it will undergo its second transformation. The distillation process clarifies and refines, separating the alcohol from the impurities. The liquid is heated and then condensed, purifying and strengthening it until it’s ready to be tasted.
STEP 6
As the aging process draws to a close, the tequila is ready for its final moments of transformation. It’s carefully diluted to reach its perfect strength and filtered to ensure clarity and smoothness. The tequila you hold in your hand carries the legacy of the land, the hands that harvested it, the heat that transformed it, and the patience that shaped its flavor. It is a story of tradition, craftsmanship, and the unique journey from agave to glass.
